Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, “To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025”.

The different rating systems from IGBC include Green New Buildings, Green Existing Buildings, Green Homes, Green Schools, Green Factory Building, Green Townships, Green SEZs, Green Landscapes, Green Mass Rapid Transit System, New Buildings (Tenant-occupied buildings, Green Homes, Green Townships, Green SEZs.

The different certification levels include Certified for Best Practices, Silver for Outstanding Performance, Gold for National Excellence, Platinum for Global Leadership.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by USGBC is a certification program for buildings and communities that meet design, construction, operations and maintenance toward sustainability.

The different certification levels based on the prerequisites and credits a project meets include Certified, Silver, Gold & Platinum.

Council for Green and Eco-friendly Movement (CGEM)

ASSOCHAM has taken a Green Initiative to care for the Mother Earth and formed a Council for Green and Eco-friendly Movement (CGEM) that will govern the program “GEM Sustainability Certification Program” with an objective to promote environment friendly green building design and construction.
